ABOUT

Margaret O'Reilly

Margaret’s love for events was found at a young age. In high school, Margaret helped create a Winter Homecoming paired with events and themes for every day of the week.  She presented the idea to her teachers and administration, and they backed her idea. Outside of that, Margaret always had a love for bringing people together. She was known for arranging group dinners and gatherings for her friends. From that time forward, she knew what she was destined to do.

Growing up in East Lansing, Margaret was (is) always a die-hard Michigan State Spartan fan, and one day hoped to attend school there. She just happened to get lucky that Michigan State also had the #1 public program for Hospitality Business. During her time at Michigan State, she wanted to absorb as much as possible. She joined many organizations that planned events or were involved in learning more about events. Margaret was the Assistant Reception Director of Les Gourmets and Event Design Director for Destination Auction.  Both student-led events that raised money for the Hospitality program.

Outside of school, Margaret was the wedding coordinator for the MSU Alumni Chapel. Among many different accomplishments, Margaret was awarded the Richard and Cherrill Cregar Outstanding Hospitality Student Scholarship. Upon graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor of Art in Hospitality Business, she started her career at Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa as their Convention Service Manager. Margaret managed each group's lodging, menu planning, activities, and executed their entire stay while on property. She was responsible for an average of 70 multi-day events annually. The events ranged from meetings, conferences, incentive trips, and client events.  After about two and a half years, Margaret wanted to continue to grow her knowledge and took a job as the Sales Manager at Hotel Julien Dubuque. In this position, she really focused on learning more sales-focused strategies and contract negotiations.

After 6 years in the industry, and much support from her family and friends Simply Suited was born. Margaret is a firm believer in life-long learning and pushes herself to constantly learn and evolve her knowledge. Nothing is more exciting to her than learning what the newest trends and event ideas are, and coming up with creative solutions using those. Most recently, Margaret has enjoyed diving into all things virtual events! The industry is ever-changing, especially in these years, and she’s always ready to change with it.

When Margaret is not working she is usually with people she loves the most, eating out or grabbing drinks to catch up (2020 was definitely different), traveling to see new places, dancing her heart out, or working on her next big project. But first and foremost, she’ll never ever say no to a good time!
